Crew Team Assignment FAQ

1. What should I select if I don’t know which crew team I want to be on?
Please contact a Crew & Volunteer Coordinator to discuss which team might be the right one for you. Then select a team based on our recommendations and the list of open teams. If you wish to join a different crew team at a later date, please go to the Crew/Volunteer Team Assignment section of your profile to remove yourself from your current team and select a new one. Note that as crew teams fill up, your choices will become more limited.

If your ideal crew team is full and you have to pick a second-choice assignment, fill out a Crew Wish List Form (2024 Crew Wish List) to let us know which crew teams you are interested in being a part of this year.

2. Can I change my crew team assignment after I make a selection?
Yes. To do so, please go to the Crew/Volunteer Team Assignment section of your profile to remove yourself from your previously selected team and select a new team. Note that as crew teams fill up, your choices will become more limited. If you wish to speak with a Crew & Volunteer Coordinator to discuss which team might be the right one for you, please contact us.

If you’re not on your ideal crew team because the team was full when you selected your assignment, fill out a Crew Wish List Form (2024 Crew Wish List) to let us know which crew teams you are interested in being a part of this year.

3. How can I apply to be a Crew Captain?
On your crew registration form, you were able to indicate your interest in being a crew team captain. If you checked this box, you will be emailed with more information. If you did not check the box and wish to change your choice, please contact us so we may update your record. All interested applicants will be interviewed, regardless of past Susan G. Komen 3-Day® Crew experience. We will select captains approximately six months prior to the event date.

4. I signed up for a crew team and my husband wants to join me, but there are no longer available spots on my team.
You may remove yourself from your current team and sign up for a new team in the Crew/Volunteer Team Assignment section of your profile. When you select a new team, make sure you are choosing a team with more than one spot and your friend/family member is registering for an open spot as well.

If you’re not on your ideal crew team because the team was full when you selected your assignment, Crew Wish List Form (2024 Crew Wish List) to let us know which crew teams you are interested in being a part of this year.

5. What if all the crew team spots get filled?
Once there are no longer openings on any team, general crew registration will be closed. Those who missed out on registering may register to walk or sign up to volunteer.

If you’re not on your ideal crew team because the team was full when you selected your assignment, fill out a Crew Wish List Form (2024 Crew Wish List) to let us know which crew teams you are interested in being a part of this year.

6. What if the crew team I participated in last year is not listed as a choice?
This means that the crew team is full and will not appear on the available job list. Please choose a new team from the available teams for your crew experience.

If you’re not on your ideal crew team because the team was full when you selected your assignment, fill out a Crew Wish List Form (2024 Crew Wish List) to let us know which crew teams you are interested in being a part of this year.

7. How can I get priority crew assignment registration for next year's 3-Day?

  • If you raise $500+ for a 2024 3-Day, we will let you register for a 2025 3-Day and select your crew team two days before crew registration opens to the public.
  • If you raise $250-$499, we will give you a one-day head start.
  • If you raise $100-$249 you can register for your 2025 crew position on the third day, when we open registration to the public.

Your 2024 fundraising total as of the Sunday (at 11:59 p.m.) before the 3-Day you are crewing sets your registration priority for the 2025 3-Day in the same city. (For example, raising $500 for the 2024 San Diego 3-Day gets you early registration for the 2025 San Diego 3-Day Crew, raising $500 for the 2024 New England 3-Day gets you early registration for the 2025 New England 3-Day Crew, etc.)

With crew teams filling up quickly, getting a two-day jump could get you that crew team assignment you’ve had your eye on for next year!
