the Youth Corps

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® Youth Corps is a select group of young people (10–16 years old) who participate as crew members on the event. Youth Corps members will attend the entire Komen 3-Day event, including training sessions on the Thursday before the event (accompanied by a small group of adult Crew Leaders), sleep overnight with us for two nights and complete a multitude of important tasks both on the route and in camp. Each Youth Corps member will be required to raise $500 by the time of the event in order to participate.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Participants must be between 10–16 years old on the first day of the event.
    • Applicants do not need to be 10 at the time of application if they will turn 10 before the event.
    • Applicants who are already 16 may apply as long as they do not turn 17 before the event begins.
  • Applicants may participate in only one event during the 2026 series.
  • Applicants who have participated for two consecutive years (2024 & 2025) are not eligible to apply.

Application Review & Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed and shared with Youth Corps Captains between February 23–27.
  • Selected applicants will be contacted by a Captain during this time to move forward with an interview.
  • Interviews will take place March 2–20.
  • Final selections will be announced on March 30.

Step 1: Application. Click on the application link below starting on February 2, 2026. You will be taken to a form on our website to submit a preliminary application.

Please note that incomplete or poorly-completed applications will not be considered, so be prepared to submit a thorough application.

This application should be completed by the student, not the parent. Most students complete the process in about 10–15 minutes. One of our Youth Corps Leaders will contact you within one week following the close of application submissions to schedule an interview.

Step 2: Video Interview. Once we have received your completed application, you will be sent a link to schedule a video interview via Microsoft Teams. This is an opportunity to learn more about Youth Corps, ask questions, and meet the Youth Corps Leaders.

Step 3: Enrollment (if accepted into program). If you are accepted into the program, your parent or guardian must formally register you as a participant on the3day.org where you’ll set up your participation and fundraising page. You will receive instructions from our office on how to complete this on our registration website.

Parents: A position as a Youth Corps member is a terrific first–time volunteer opportunity for many young individuals. As such, we encourage our Youth Corps to take complete responsibility for this process themselves by calling or e-mailing with any questions regarding the program and completing the application themselves.

As described in Step 3 above, if your child completes Steps 1 and 2 successfully and is accepted into our program, you will be directly enrolling them as a participant and receiving confirmation details from a member of Komen Staff. We will provide you with additional information that will help you support your child as they fulfill their commitment.
