
On-event volunteer opportunities for the Susan G. Komen Philadelphia 3-Day for the Cure are now open for registration. Read the descriptions below, then follow this link to register for any of these opportunities. Please do not register for more than one volunteer shift per day.
These opportunities are not open to registered Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® crew members or walkers.
Campsite Volunteer Opportunities
Shop3Day.com® Volunteers help set up and operate the Shop3Day.com store at the 3-Day for the Cure camp, assisting participants with their purchases. Volunteers will receive dinner.
Friday, October 14, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Traffic Control Assistance Volunteers help the Traffic Control Crew during peak times at traffic intersections at the campsite.
Friday, October 14, 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 3:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Overnight Security The Overnight Security Team provides protection of the camp, equipment, vehicles and all the participants. Overnight Security volunteers work in pairs, communicate with radios and assist hired security guards throughout the night. Volunteers need to commit to the entire overnight shift and will receive dinner and breakfast.

Closing Ceremony Volunteer Opportunities Please note that Closing Ceremony volunteers will not be able to view the ceremony.
Check-in/Concierge Team: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Volunteers staff the Volunteer Check-in and Pink Information tents and assist with the Holding Area breakdown. Volunteer Check-in acts as an information “hub” where volunteers connect with team Captains and are dispatched to respective team areas.
Pit Stop Support: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Volunteers will relieve the crew at the final pit stop, managing the food and water stations, and will maintain that area until the participants leave the Holding Area.
Victory T-Shirt Distribution: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Volunteers will work to ensure that all participants receive one appropriate-sized Victory T-shirt before they head for the Closing Ceremony.
Gear Retrieval: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Helps the Gear Crew unload participants’ gear from the gear trucks and keeps gear area secure throughout the day by checking participant credentials as they pick up their gear.
Hydration Station: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This team is responsible for the set-up of water stations and garbage cans in and around the chute area (located in front of the stage at the Closing Ceremony).
Traffic Control/Shuttle Team: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Traffic volunteers, working in conjunction with local authorities, will direct all vehicles to designated parking lots. Additionally, volunteers will assist in directing family, friends and spectators to the Closing Ceremony site. If needed, a few of these volunteers will drive a continuous shuttle, transporting crew members and staff from the load-out lot to the Holding Area.
Event Vehicle Return Shuttle Team: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Members of this Shuttle team will assist in returning vehicles to our vehicle rental location. This team will report to the load-out lot where they will be directed by the Event Vehicle Manager.
Holding/Closing Breakdown Team: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This team of volunteers will assist the event staff with breakdown of the Holding Area. This includes all areas of the Holding Area. In addition, they will assist in ensuring that the area is free of trash.
Medical Volunteer Opportunities: Sunday, October 16, 12:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. We need doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered or licensed vocational/practical nurses and emergency medical technicians (basic and paramedic) to provide care at our Holding Area on Sunday. All medical volunteers are required to provide proof of current certification in Pennsylvania and have a current CPR (BLS) card.
Register for Volunteer Opportunities
All registered volunteers will receive a reminder email one week before the event begins with detailed information about the event location, parking, what to bring, etc.
Volunteer Captains Needed Nine dedicated Volunteer Captains are needed for our Sunday shifts at the Closing Ceremony. Captains are the leaders of our volunteer teams and will serve as the point person between staff and volunteers throughout the Ceremony. Community Involvement Opportunities: Camp Angels, Private Cheering Stations
If you or someone you know is interested in any of the opportunities for community involvement listed below, please contact the 3-Day coaches at coaches@the3day.org or 800-996-3DAY.
Camp Angels Assist participants with setting up and taking down sleeping tents; assist with gear valet between sleeping tents and gear trucks; distribute water and snacks to participants in the tent area. After tents are set up, the group may be asked to do other tasks in camp such as collect recycling, cheer in walkers, bring drinks to walkers in the tent area, etc.
Friday, October 14, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 5:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Requirements:
- Must provide own transportation to/from camp location.
- Must be at least 16 years of age to work on Saturday or Sunday morning.
- Must be at least 10 years of age to work on Friday afternoon.
- All minors (under the age of 18) must have a Volunteer Agreement and Release of Liability Form signed by the parent or guardian on file prior to the event.
- All minors must be supervised by an adult from their group at all times.

Private Cheering Stations Cheer along the route to help walkers stay motivated. Note that there are also public cheering stations. Private cheering stations are designated to allow volunteer groups to “cheer up” a specific section of the route. Times and locations are TBD.
Requirements:
- While standing on a designated spot (curb) along the walking route, cheer, encourage and energize the walkers as they pass by.
- Groups should be approximately 20 people or less.
- Must provide own transportation to/from designated location.
- Must be able to work independently with no 3-Day staff presence.
- Selling, cooking and tents are prohibited.
- Ensure that the site was left cleaner than it was found and recyclable materials are recycled.
