For breast cancer awareness month in 2015, I had a routine mammogram. I had no symptoms and no family history. I then left to get married in Hawaii, only to return in November to learn I had breast cancer. 60 miles in 3 days is not as hard as going through cancer treatments. It?s not as hard as sharing the news with loved ones. It's not as hard as learning that someone lost their battle, not as hard as survivors guilt (even years later). I walk for everyone affected by cancer, I walk for those no longer with us, I walk for access to care and early detection that saved my life. I walk for Hope.
