I first learned about the Susan G Komen fundraiser walk is when our Navy wife began her second fight with metastatic breast cancer. I really didn?t know Gwynne except for her participation in our Navy spouses Bunco group. I remember delivering a bunco bag to her and she opened the door with a bandana around her head. She had begun treatment for her breast cancer. Since that time, I watched other ladies get diagnosed and seek treatment with this awful disease. Some caught their cancer early and required only early intervention treatment; others received more extensive treatment and reconstruction. Some had to battle a second round of breast cancer but are cancer free still today. Some ladies lost their battle, heartbreaking. ALL are my heroes.
I am seeking assistance to raise funds for the 3 Day Susan G Komen Walk scheduled to take place in Tampa, FL in February 2027. This is my second 60-mile walk for this organization and with our team Gwynne?s friends; honoring our Navy friend who lost her battle with cancer. A year ago, I walked in the 3 Day in San Diego, and I met some amazing people. Both walking for their family members and those walking as they were going through treatment and/or reconstruction. I can?t tell you how healing this walk is for so many diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember a lady from Atlanta who was camping and walking alone. She told her supportive husband that she had to do this walk to assist her in her emotional healing process.
Can you help me by donating $1 per mile or $60 or more to my walk? I will be walking for my family members: Lisa, Tracy, Sharon; friends Haley, Ann, Bonnie, S., Linda, Tracy, and many more who have fought the battle and so far, are winning.
