I have lost family members and dear friends to this hideous disease; aunts, uncles, cousins have gone through the horrors of breast cancer.
I have fought this scourge. Worse, I had to watch my daughter go through the treatment, surgeries and pain with this beast.
We have made it our mission to do whatever we can to help save lives. Every 14 seconds, somewhere in the world, a case of breast cancer is diagnosed – a sobering statistic.
We are sending our THANKS to you for your help in this fight to save lives.
We will be joining hundreds of walkers in the Susan G. Komen 3-day. We have committed to walk 60 miles over three days to demonstrate our determination in finding a cure for breast cancer. To reach our fundraising goal required to participate, your support is a tremendous gain. 50% of the proceeds from the event, Save the Boobs Save the Life, will support our participation. In 2006 a Susan G. Komen (SGK) funded mammogram found bi-lateral breast cancer in BB at the age of 35; five years before insurance would have covered any scans! In 2023 her daughter, Army Veteran Kris, at age 32, was diagnosed with bi-lateral breast cancer.
The other 50% will stay locally within Coweta County to support men and women seeking treatment at City Of Hope Cancer Center. BB has been a patient at the Atlanta City of Hope (previously Cancer Treatment Centers) since 2016 and has received emotional and social support from their 501c3 organizations, the Cancer Fighters and Harbor of Hope support groups.
Since 2003, the Komen 3-Day has raised more than $891 million. 2.3 billion has been granted to people and communities most at risk programs to provide access to screening, treatment assistance, patient navigation and education. 1.2 billion has gone towards breakthrough research ensuring earlier detection and raising the survival rates for those diagnosed to 97%.
In 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and an additional 59,080 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer will be diagnosed. Chances are, you know at least one person who has been personally affected by breast cancer. Consider your donation as a powerful tribute to them.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely;
Barbara “BB” Boone, Survivor
