Walking for my sister, Katie
In 2024, my sister Katie heard three words that changed everything: "You have cancer."
At just 46, Katie was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of the disease. What followed was a fight for her life that no one should have to endure.
Katie's treatment plan was brutal. The chemotherapy and immunotherapy designed to save her nearly killed her instead. She required multiple blood transfusions and IV antibiotics just to stay strong enough to continue treatment. Emergency room visits became routine. Hospital stays stretched on as her body struggled to withstand the very medicine meant to heal it. The impact her cancer had on our parents was so sad to witness. They felt so helpless and were terrified to lose their daughter.
Today, Katie is cancer free. We celebrate that victory every single day.
But the battle left scars that will never fade. Katie still has complications from the treatment that saved her life, a painful reminder that even when we "win" against cancer, the cost is devastating.
That's why I'm walking.
Will you join me in this fight?
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. It says to my sister and to every person fighting breast cancer: you are not alone, and we will not stop until we find a cure.
Thank you for honoring my sister Katie's battle and supporting this critical mission.
With gratitude and love,
Holly Brandon
