I am planning to participate in my 4th 3-Day, 60-Mile event in Dallas in 2026. Having completed walks in Boston, San Diego, and most recently in Denver, I am psyched to travel to Dallas in October for my 2026 participant walk.
This year's walk in Denver did not disappoint - a challenging, but uplifting event. Everyone supported each other throughout the 3-days, and countless miles. When the legs were tired, or in my case, when my right big toe was really hurting, it was good to be reminded that my pain was not as hard as dealing with a cancer diagnosis, going through chemo and/or radiation, and keeping the spirits up while battling this disease. Keeps things in perspective.
So, we all pushed forward. The closing ceremony is always special. It was incredibly inspirational to see all the breast cancer survivors walking in as a group, hand-in-hand, to the front of the stage, while the rest of us cheered them on. Those walkers are thriving - a testament to their strength, resilience, and courage to continue living and fighting.
You can see the impact that the Komen organization has had over the many years, helping those dealing with breast cancer, financially supporting new research studies to find better treatments, and providing much-needed education to enable individuals to catch the disease at an early stage. With new treatment options available today, breast cancer patients are living longer, and many are beating this disease.
So if you are able, I would greatly appreciate your support and donation for my walk in 2026. With each dollar raised, the goal that one day there will be a world without breast cancer becomes closer to reality. It's a lofty goal, but progress is being made!.
With sincere gratitude. Joel
