My Why
In 2009 my younger sister Keely was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was married with two small children, and I felt helpless watching her go through something so difficult. I wanted to do something, anything, that could make a difference. Thats when I decided to do the Susan G. Komen 3-Day 60 mile walk. That summer, while Keely was having surgeries and getting chemo, I helped look after her kids and trained for the walk.
That first walk changed me. Since then, I?ve laced up my shoes 16 times to walk for my sister, who is now a survivor, and for the countless others whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
I keep walking because the funds raised go far beyond my family, they support groundbreaking research, patient care, community programs, and the hope of a future without breast cancer. Every step I take and every dollar raised brings us closer to that day. But until that day comes, here are the ways your donation helps now:
- Patient support services like financial assistance for treatment, childcare, and transportation to appointments.
- Helplines and guidance for people who are newly diagnosed or navigating difficult treatment decisions.
- Education and community programs that spread awareness and connect people with the resources they need.
- Advocacy work to make sure every patient has access to quality care, no matter who they are or where they live.
Thank you for supporting me, my sister, and everyone who needs hope. Together, we are making a difference.
