A little over 2 weeks ago this 'bionic woman' underwent a total right hip replacement. I am making gains daily, although patience has never been my strongest suit! I am religiously following doctors and therapists' orders to be certain I do this right, although it will be a month or more out to get back to my normal physical activities. "Have more Patience", I keep telling myself. "Do not give up!" ... And this is a minor health 'scare' ... not as difficult as fighting for your life with a cancer diagnosis. I am blessed, and will continue my fight for those less fortunate than I ...
I have been Fundraising for Breast Cancer for 20 years and more than 35 events! Previous to Komen I participated from 2004 - 2016 with the Avon Foundation at the Avon Walks for Breast Cancer. This will be my 5th year with Susan G Komen.
I am pretty certain most of my friends and family know someone very close who has walked their own journey with cancer ... some of you are right now, and I know many more who have beat and surpassed the odds! I am a woman of faith and have heard stories of miraculous survivors as well as many who ended up losing their fight with cancer .... It is personal. No two stories are alike.
Please consider supporting me and my sisters who will be besides me ....
My fundraising goal is $5,000 and I have already raised $2,365 … so I have less than $2,635 more to raise prior to July! ... Just a mere 3 more months ...
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. I will be crewing this event, meaning working on supporting and feeding the thousands of fellow walkers, crew members, staff and volunteers alike for 3 days! Walking or Crewing we both are here for the same cause. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this.
That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to provide support and assistance to the breast cancer community, by research, raising awareness, supporting the underinsured, providing needed services within the community.
I am In it to End It!
It is also a way to honor those who have gone before me … Family members and friends who can call themselves survivors …. Those who are still fighting everyday … and especially for my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in hopes they will never hear the words "You have Cancer"
Please won't you be one of my Angels in raising funds?
