In October 2025, I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 2025 Dallas/Fort Worth 3-Day Walk. This will be my third time walking in support of this great organization. I previously walked in Washington DC in 2008 and 2009. In 2022 and 2023, my mom and I volunteered and provided support and encouragement to the brave walkers in Dallas/Ft. Worth.
As many of you know, my mother Evangeline (Van) was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2005. After many weeks of intensive treatment, she was and has remained cancer free for 20 YEARS!!! She is TRULY a survivor and my biggest inspiration for taking on such a challenge once again. On October 24, 2025, I will begin my two- part journey as a crewmember and on October 26th I will WALK for my mom, family and friends that have had their lives impacted by breast cancer. Since 2005, my family and I have dealt with loss of friends including Ms. Sarah K. and Dr. J. Boyer. Family members continuing to thrive include my aunt Mildred, cousins June and Debbie, and friends of the family that became family Sarah K’s daughters: Diane and Audrey. Several friends and former co-workers have been diagnosed and battled with breast cancer since I walked in DC.
This year, I will add my donor’s names to my shirt and will carry EVERY one of you in my heart as I walk 60 miles over three days. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. I have agreed to raise at least $1,000 in donations. I have set my personal goal at $3000.00. Therefore, I really need your help. Would you please consider donating $100.00?

“We walk because we must. We walk for ourselves, our sisters, mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We walk because we cannot sit idly by watching while breast cancer still exists in the world. Since 2003, Susan G. Komen has raised more than $902 million to save lives, support community programs, and make huge strides in breast cancer research and access to care”. According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, approximately 200,000 American women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me - by supporting me in my fund raising efforts. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Sincerely, Jalicia Brown
