For years I have stood on the sidelines cheering on the walkers, supplying jello “medicine”, bubbles and cheers. I have loved every minute of being a small part of the pink bubble hoping to bring a smile to the tired walkers faces.
I told myself years ago that one day, I too, would walk 60 miles in 3 days with all these strong men and women. Next year I am walking at the age of 37, the age my beautiful, strong, brave, inspiring cousin in law was when she lost her battle to breast cancer. I walk at the age of 37 because she couldn’t. I walk at the age of 37 so that maybe when Olivia is that age, she won’t have to. I’m walking because I have seen first hand what medicine can do, and I have hope it can do even more. I’m walking so one day, no daughter loses their mother, a husband doesn’t lose his wife, so the world doesn’t lose another human to breast cancer.
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
