I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in the summer of 2022. I underwent surgeries, four months of chemotherapy and 30 rounds of radiation. It has been a long, eye-opening, emotional journey, but today I am so grateful to be a 1.5 year survivor. Breast cancer will forever be a part of my story as I move forward in my life. And now, more than ever, I want to do whatever I can to help in the urgent quest to find a cure. For the last two years I have participated in the MORE THAN PINK Walk in Los Angeles (thank you to all of my family and friends who joined my 'Fight Club' Team and to all of my gracious donors!!), but this year I am challenging myself to do something harder. I recently signed up for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day in San Diego, which is a three day and up to 60-mile walk. My goal is to walk all 60 miles (I'm currently walking 2 miles a day) and raise money to help give breast cancer patients better treatment options, improved survivorship outcomes and hopefully to help find the cure for breast cancer that we desperately need.
I want to be honest with you: Before cancer entered my body, I didn't think much about it and I never supported the cause. I can't tell you how much I wish I would have supported the fight against breast cancer sooner. I pray every day and night that none of my family or friends will ever have to endure what I have.
So if you like to walk, ask me about joining the San Diego 3-Day in November! If not, please consider making a monetary donation to my fundraising goal. And lastly, if you love anyone who has ever been impacted by breast cancer, please send me their name so I can write it down and proudly wear it on my pink shirt when I walk these special 60-miles in San Diego.
XO,
Nisha
