Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to tell you about a big challenge I’m taking on this fall. I have committed to walk 60 miles (yes, really!) over the course of three days in the San Diego Susan G. Komen 3-Day. Those of you who know me well know that there must be a really good reason that I would volunteer to exercise this much, and there is. It’s to raise money for a cause that’s very near and dear to my heart, to help end breast cancer.
Breast cancer has been a part of my life since I was 39. Going through chemo and radiation, turning 40 years old and being bald from the toxins that was put in my body to save my life was devastating. My second occurrence was 4 years ago at which time I had to have a mastectomy. Another devastating blow.
I am proud to share that because of my experiences and commitment to helping others, I have committed to walking 60 miles in three days as part of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day®. I will be walking with my wonderful friend Barbara Gore, who has participated for 18 years.
And so I’ll be lacing up my tennis shoes, going on training walks, and most importantly, asking for money! Because it’s your donations that will help fund the research and the treatment that will make a difference. I’m not used to asking for money but know this is not for me. This is for all women everywhere.
The 3-Day is not until November, but my goal is to raise $2,500 before then, so I’m getting started now. You can help! Click the link at the end of this to go to my personal fundraising webpage (Or you can call 800-996-3DAY and the nice people at the 3-Day can take your donation over the phone just provide my participate ID 8284936)
This is a huge deal for me, and that’s why I’m asking for help. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you all so much for helping me reach my goal.
