This year, I’m committing—for the seventh time—to walk 60 miles in 3 days as part of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day to help end breast cancer.
Honestly, I planned to take a break this year. I completed two walks last year and thought I’d sit this one out. But then I got the news that changed everything—my dear friend, Milena, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
My friend isn’t just anyone—she’s been my walking partner and our team founder/captain for more than a decade. She’s also a daughter who lost her mother to breast cancer when she was barely an adult. That loss has stayed with her all these years—and now, the diagnosis she’s dreaded has become her reality.
Milena is the radiant center of her world. A loving wife. A mom to six amazing kids. A dedicated teacher, recently a powerhouse real estate agent, and truly one of the kindest, sunniest people I know. She deserves every beautiful day life can offer—and so do millions of others fighting this disease.
Milena’s prognosis is good—she caught it early. But not everyone is as lucky. Not everyone has access to early detection, quality treatment, or the resources they need to survive.
That’s why I walk. That’s why I fundraise–to fund screenings, fuel research, and fight for a future without breast cancer. I’ll keep walking, year after year, until that goal is reached.
(Here's the part you knew was coming! Wink wink) If you’re able, please consider donating to support my walk and help end breast cancer. Every dollar makes a difference. Xo
