The past few years have been difficult for not only me, but also for all of you. It was difficult for my two best friends who lost their personal battles with this insidious disease last year, within days of each other. It was difficult for their families and friends who witnessed the valiant battles their brave loved ones fought. It was difficult for me, as I walked up the hill to the Remembrance Tent and placed their names and the names of those that you, my dear sponsors, asked me to memorialize on the 3-Day flag. I was alone in the tent for a long while, meditating and reading stories of heroes who fought the battle. And then I promised all of these heroes who were surrounding me that I was not going to give up. I promised I would continue to walk and raise funds to fight the disease we all hate. I told our heroes we would win the battle for them.
So I will walk one day of this year’s 3-Day while crewing the first 2 days. To tell you the truth, my mind is strong, but my body is not. I struggle when I walk. This in all probability should be my last year…but I am not saying that…I will walk until I cannot walk…for our heroes!
Please support me—again—as we fight this battle together. Send me the names of those you want me to walk for. Together we will beat cancer!
