This year has renewed my passion for finding a cure to this disease. This year two friends have been diagnosed. One with her original diagnosis and the other diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. (MBC has no cure, currently) Both are currently in treatment. One was diagnosed early and is in treatment. The other friend’s original cancer has metastasized and will be in treatment for the rest of her life. Both are SURVIORS/THIRVORS. This is why this event is so close to my heart and why I walk. I am now entering those “prime” years when many people are diagnosed with breast cancer. Did you know that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer? We have to improve those odds. I walk to find a cure, so that we do not have to tell our loved ones “I have cancer” or to lose those that we love. I want to be part of the cure!!
Many years ago, I found a passion, a place to call my why. I was going to walk 60 miles over 3 days. You all stepped up and helped me reach my goal that year and have for the last 12. Thank you for your amazing support for me. I’m sure that there are many of you who still think that I’m out of my mind for walking 60 miles over 3 days!! You are really the foundation to my success. Every time I hear someone say, “I have cancer, or my wife/sister/friend has cancer.” I say, “This is why I walk”. I know how it feels to hear that sentence from your doctor, I was lucky and now I want to be able to be the inspiration to all those fighting this terrible disease to keep fighting and to take it one step at time. Because everyone deserves a lifetime.®
Will you help me? Please consider donating $30.00. Please remember no donation is too small (send me your spare change). Chances are that you know someone who has been affected by cancer. Consider your donation as a powerful tribute to them. Make a $50.00 donation and I’ll add their name to my tribute ribbons. I wear these ribbons on my pink cowboy hat for everyone to see.
Thanks, from the bottom of my feet!!
Love you all! You are my heroes!!
