My family has been part of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for as long as I can remember. My grandfather, Cliff Meyers, joined in 2002 and founded Cliff’s Crew in 2005, and I grew up as a proud “walker stalker,” cheering him on every year. Then, I cheered on my mom when she joined, followed by my sister, and then my dad. As soon as I was old enough, I joined the walk in 2012 and again in 2016, honoring my Great Grandma Kay and Aunt Donna, both breast cancer survivors.
The 3-Day, the survivors I met along the way, and—most of all—my grandfather’s dedication to finding a cure for over 20 years shaped my future and career aspirations. His passion inspired me to pursue a career in Medical Physics, where I now work toward improving radiation therapy and cancer survivorship. Though my studies have taken me to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, I’m excited to return for the 20th anniversary of Cliff’s Crew—walking alongside my dad, Brian Meyers (12-time walker), and my grandfather, Cliff Meyers (20-time walker).
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
