In 2006 I walked my first 3-Day event for my Aunt Gail who passed away in 2002. At that time, I didn't know many people who have had breast cancer, let alone any who had passed away. 4 years it took me to convince someone to walk with me...and we had a blast.
In 2007, I registered to crew and found a home. Camp Logistics was my heart and soul with the best people for years. Some are still family to this day...all because we folded and unfolded a bazillion chairs and slung trash all weekend. A BLAST.
In 2008, I was hired on at Event360 as Participant Support/Coaching. I worked with the best people, learned so much...and met so many amazing survivors. I found community in not only the work environment, but in my volunteering adventures.
I stayed just short of 9 years. 9 years of the most wonderful individuals...Youth Corps, Walkers, Crew, Day Volunteers, Staff...my favorite job I've ever had was working with the Crew. When I say I found my heart and soul in Crew, I mean it.
Dozens of 3-Days across the country, hundreds of wonderful volunteers that I'm still connected to, family, friends, my life was changed because my Aunt Gail changed my life.
After 8 years away from the event that changed my life, I am dusting off my walking shoes and joining the Pink Bubble once again. Please support my efforts as I incur injuries and blisters all in the name of cancer research, education and support. The last 20 years of my life have been in the cancer & health field and I have seen the advancements that have saved lives, extended lives and changed lives.
