A year ago today, the day before my birthday, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Not exactly the present I wanted, but I put on my big girl, pink pant jumpsuit and faced the cancer head-on! After multiple tests & doctor visits, three surgeries with eight drains, and the love & support of my amazing family and close friends, I am gratefully now in remission and fully committed to helping end breast cancer!
This is why I am participating in the Susan G. Komen 3-day, 60-mile walk this coming November and raising much needed funds to support research, screening improvements, education and survivor services.
I walk in celebration and gratitude for my health, my sister, my mother-in-law and my cousin. I walk for those who can’t walk for themselves; in honor of those who lost the battle; and for better prevention, early detection and treatment.
My personal goal is to raise $2,500, and I am asking your help to meet/exceed this goal. Below is the link to my fundraising page. Please feel free to indicate the name of a loved one who you would like to honor, so I can include on my customized t-shirt that I will wear on the walk.
With gratitude and love always,
Maria
