My 2007 breast cancer changed my life in ways I would never change. During treatment spanning 14 months, I discovered walking short distances cleared my mind, improved my mood and boosted my energy level. 

I stepped outside my comfort zone at my first 3-Day 60-mile in 2009 and regained my strength. I also “stumbled upon” a powerful sense of connection in the shared experience of walking. I formed close bonds in the community we fondly call the “Pink Bubble.”

Yes, I am walking again in 2025 recommitting my time, energy and resources. This is more than a walk for me. This event is a tangible way to contribute to research, support programs and access to programs for men and women affected by breast cancer.

This survivor in San Diego takes the time and energy each year to display her emotional “thank you” message on our walking route. Her message of gratitude seems to come at a point on the route when I’m tired or dragging or uncomfortable. It is so inspiring to greet her each year, see that she is thriving and see how much her daughter has grown!
