Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo or radiation. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. And it’s certainly not as hard as saying goodbye.to someone you love.
Breast cancer has touched my life in many ways. I lost a dear friend to this disease. My mom and numerous friends are survivors. I know and love many others, both men and women, who have been deeply impacted, whether as patients, loved ones, caregivers, or previvors making difficult decisions to protect their health.
I know firsthand the vital role research and innovation plays in turning diagnoses into survivorship stories. In 1994, I was diagnosed with leukemia and participated in a clinical trial which ultimately helped save my life. I’ve now been cancer-free for 30 years! This August, I walk with deep gratitude for the science that saves lives and the people that make that science possible. I walk for my mom, for my friends, and for the countless others who are fighting, who have lost loved ones or who are courageously navigating rough paths to reduce their risk.
Thanks for being part of this journey! Your encouragement and generosity are greatly appreciated!
