This is my first year to volunteer for the Komen 3 Day with my family and I am so excited to be able to help!
The fight against breast cancer is something many people have contributed to, but for my family, it's even more personal. At the start of Covid and when I was 4, in 2020, my mom was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. It was hard for everyone in my family the next few months, no one knowing what would come next, what would happen; but we stayed as strong as we could, helped my mom in every possible way. In November of that year, she had what we all hoped to be her last treatment. For eight months we hoped but were unsure whether she was officially cancer free, then July of 2021, my mom's cancer metastasized to her brain. The tumor was removed and as far as we know her cancer hasn't come back since, but because the cancer had metastasized, she will never be officially cancer free.
This cause means so much to me. Please support me as I help to commit to an incredible challenge. I will be on Youth Corps, crewing for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news after a loved one's latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m crewing and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
My mom is walking and my sister is on youth corps with me.
