Twenty-five years ago, I participated in the (then) Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. I walked to honor my mother, Marilyn, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer at the tender age of 35. She fought valiantly for the next 30 years, displaying incredible strength, courage, and grace before we lost her to this disease.
This summer, my daughter, Maya, and I will head to Boston to take part in the Susan G. Komen 2-Day, 40-Mile Walk. Our team name is Grandma Marilyn’s Girls. Every step we take will be a tribute to my mother’s enduring spirit and a commitment to ensuring that fewer families have to suffer the tremendous loss we did.
And this year, the walk is even more personal— because I am now a breast cancer survivor, too.
Maya and I will be walking not only to honor my mother’s memory but also to celebrate my survival—and to stand with the more than 300,000 women who will be diagnosed this year alone. The funds we raise through this walk will support vital research, treatments, and services for those impacted by breast cancer. I truly believe that, together, we can make a difference and bring hope to millions.
Will you join us in this effort by sponsoring me? Every dollar counts—whether it’s $5, $500, or anything in between. Alternatively, you can sponsor Maya, who is also raising $1,800 for this walk (link to her page: https://shorturl.at/qEAzA)
Thank you for your generosity and support. It means the world to me, to Maya, and to all those whose lives are touched by breast cancer.
With love and gratitude,
Cheryl (C.J.) Prince
