In 2008, I signed up for my first 5K, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Washington, DC. I trained that summer and fell in love with running. I spent the next 15 years partnering with various charities and logging miles, running countless marathons and half marathons. With the generous support of friends and family, we raised over $50,000 for worthy organizations in tandem with these endurance endeavors. It's been a few years since I committed to a big endurance goal, and honestly my knees have said "maybe stop running, okay?" I have heard them loud and clear that my distance running career is probably over but that doesn't mean my endurance goals have to stop...
So this year, I am committing to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk. That's up to 20 miles each day for three days in a row!
Please support me as I commit to this incredible challenge. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
I dedicate this endeavor to the many women that I know and love that have battled and BEAT breast cancer! You each inspire me!
