Two for the TaTas is BACK for year #3!!
I am so excited to walk in my 3rd Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day in Boston this August! Throughout the last two years I have raised a total of $11,381.40 to fund breast cancer research and to help people currently fighting breast cancer access the treatments they need.
The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It is hard, but not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I’m walking, and why I’m raising money to end breast cancer forever.
Growing up, I watched my mom train for her first three 3-Day walks (even “helping” to fundraise with neighborhood lemonade stands) and got to cheer her on from the sidelines in Minneapolis. Even then, I knew that I wanted to be a part of the Pink Bubble.
In 2022, my mom and 3-Day teammate, Barbara, received a non-invasive breast cancer diagnosis. Thanks to her team at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute her treatment was successful, and she has continued to have clear scans for over two years! After she completed her treatment, we knew we had to do something.
So many women and men, and their families, are not as lucky as we were. That’s why I am committed to walking, so that we can make a future without breast cancer. And I am so happy to have my mom – my “why,” and the strongest woman I know – right there by my side through all of the blisters and aches.
I greatly appreciate everybody who has supported me through my last two walks, either by donating, or by coming with me on training walks (in-person or on the phone)! If you have any questions about the 3-Day or how to donate, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Love,
Vanessa
