Up until now, only a select few knew of my cancer diagnosis and have received updates as I navigated the inconceivable.
While caring for my mom during her final days I found a lump in my breast. When I returned home I scheduled all the appointments necessary that allowed me to get the answers I needed.
February 11th was the day I heard “your biopsy was positive, you have breast cancer”.
Shortly after the initial diagnosis we found another lump. It, too was a positive biopsy (March 11th).
The second tumor changed the plan of care and a double mastectomy was scheduled for April 14th. (Yes, Monday)
I knew from the moment I heard those dreaded words I was going to be a survivor, I had no doubts.
Knowing I can, and I will survive is why I have decided to join Team Jill & Ron again, and participate in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day. This year I will be walking in Boston as a current fighter and survivor. ð©·
