I have been blessed in my life with amazing people who have loved me to life! At age 34, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer has been a plague in my family taking the lives of 37 women through out four generations. My original diagnosis was terrifying but with the love and support with my amazing husband, friends and family, I knew in my heart I was going to be OK. I had surgery, completed 9 rounds of chemotherapy, 28 rounds of radiation and I was good...until I wasn't.
Four years later, the beast was back...and it was not good. Doctors at the time were not optimistic, and I was told there was a strong chance that I would probably not see my 43rd birthday. My family and I refused to accept this and we decided we were going to fight. Body, mind and soul...we would fight this until God decided it was over.
Thanks to research over the years led by Susan G. Komen, I am excited to be celebrating my 58th birthday the weekend of this walk. I have been loved by my amazing family and friends to life! Together with your support we continue to raise money and awareness so that others can continue to live their lives beating the odds, and so some day we can all live in a world without breast cancer.
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to continue to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
