This year, I’m walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day — 60 miles over 3 days — to raise money and hope in the fight against breast cancer. This cause is deeply personal to me, because it’s not just a fight I believe in — it’s one I’ve lived.
I’m walking with gratitude — and with purpose. In 2023, a routine mammogram caught early-stage cancer, and I underwent a double mastectomy in January 2024, followed by two reconstructive surgeries. I’m incredibly grateful for early detection, strong medical care, and a chance to move forward.
But my story is just one part of why I walk.
I walk in memory of my Grandpa Duane and my Aunt Sue, both taken too soon by breast cancer. I also walk for my dear Dad, Keith and my Aunt Glenda, who we also lost to cancer. I walk for the fighters, the survivors, and all the lives we’ve lost to this dreaded disease.
And I’m doing it with a smile — alongside my amazing team: Babies! (Named lovingly after what my daughter, Harlyn, calls my boobs ). Because even in the hardest moments, we find light, laughter, and the strength to keep going.
The money raised through the 3-Day helps fund research, community health programs, and vital support for people facing breast cancer. If you’re able to give, any amount helps — every donation brings us one step closer to a future with fewer losses and more survivors.
Thank you for caring and for standing with me. Every step I take honors those we love — and helps give hope to others.
With gratitude,
Lindsay
