The Susan G Komen 3-Day is a 60 mile walk to raise funds for breast cancer awareness, programs, and research. With two grandmothers and numerous friends/family who are survivors I feel like I need to do my part to end this disease. I am required to raise a minimum of $2,300 in donations that go directly to the charity for the honor of walking.. and yes, it’s an honor. I walk for all of my friends/family who have battled this horrible disease.. I walk for those who can’t walk.. I walk for my nieces, my daughter, your daughter, so that in the event anyone gets this disease we can have better treatment, and they can have programs to help.
So is the money I raise for ME? Yeah, it’s for all of us… but the money raised is given to the charity to use as they see fit to battle this horrible disease. I don’t know how to cure cancer, so I am trying to get the money into the hands of people who do know how. It’s that simple.
That’s why I walk in my pink clothes, waving at cars… If it reminds a single woman to get her mammogram, it’s worth it. If it encourages a person to donate to the charity, it’s worth it..
That’s why I bake all of the cupcakes, sell candy, buy items to sell at breast cancer awareness tables, bug everyone I know to help… because all of it is easier than chemo! It’s to get the money into the hands of people who can use it to help and remind everyone this is all of our fight!
So if you feel it in your heart, please donate to the charity... Any small bit helps.
If you are unable to donate online, please print out a donation form.
