Dear Friends,
When my sister-in-law recruited me to join her Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure team, I said "Yes!", just like I know you do when faced with a challenge or a big ask. I'll be walking 20 miles a day for 3-days in October in Dallas, TX.
While I, personally, have not been impacted by breast cancer, I know so many others that have. In fact, 1 out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This fact was staggering to me, and I know that if someone I care about is battling this disease, I want them to have the best possible options for treatment. At a time when government grants are disappearing for medical research, private funding is more important than ever. Current Komen funding allows for more than 130 active research grants in 24 states and 5 countries and totals over $100 million.
I’m walking on a team called Heidi’s Angels. The team is made up of a group of friends and likeminded women who decided to come together to honor a wonderful and fierce woman, Heidi Anne Rauscher-Troutman. Heidi passed away from cancer in January of this year.
We live in California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Texas. Although we come from many states, our goal is the same - to fundraise in support of research, treatment and care for all those fighting this awful disease and to bring awareness to the benefits of early detection.
I would be deeply grateful if you are able to support my 3-Day (60 mile) walk in Dallas, Texas this fall with a donation of any amount.
