Hello,
Until my own diagnosis in February 2021, I was fairly oblivious to the journey of a cancer warrior. That path of unknowns and gut-wrenching terror. The long and winding road of a hijacked life, that can range years to a lifetime. I never knew the anxiety of that life altering phone call stating, “you have breast cancer.”
Until I did. Until that call came thru my own phone and turned life as I knew it, upside down.
In March of 2021, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy with an immediate DIEP Flap reconstruction. Over the following 24 months, I had two additional procedures to perfect the reconstruction and am still on medication.
Over the course of this diagnosis, I have obtained scars, internally and externally. Scars that are a reminder that life on this earth isn't a guarantee, but it sure is worth living.
My beautiful stepsister Lauren, who is also a fellow Pink Warrior sister, and I have created a team and are joining forces to celebrate life and support others on the journey of a breast cancer diagnosis. Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. The walk we are participating in will take place at the end of October 2025 in Dallas, TX. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
Thank you!
