I walked my first 3-day in 2019. I registered for the physical challenge of it - and to raise money for a good cause. Only a few short weeks later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and ended up walking my first 3-day on a cold weekend in Philadelphia between the ending of my chemo treatments, and the start of my radiation treatments. I didn't finish, but I swore that I'd be back.
I walk now to raise awareness that early detection saves lives. I walk because I benefited from research - I'm literally here today because my doctors knew just what to do to help me kick cancer's ass. I walk for my friends who have been diagnosed - and for those who will be diagnosed. I walk because one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
I walk with the hope that we will find a cure!
