It is so hard to believe it has been 12 and a half years since my life was turned upside down with one phone call from a doctor. When in that situation, you don't think, you just do, you work, you have chemo, you have surgery, you have radiation, you just put one foot in front of the other because you have no other choice. I don't know what has always pulled me to the Susan G. Komen 60 mile walk, but it has always been in the back of my mind. I think I started asking my boss if they would sponsor me 11 years ago and couldn't get it done. I have decided to do it this year. At this point in my life I could NOT walk 40 miles in two days, but 12 years ago I wouldn't have believed I could endure so many surgeries, treatments, and ALL the needle pokes, but I did. This year I am going to once again, put one foot in front of the other and train to walk 40 miles in October in Dallas. I invite you to laugh with me, cry with me , and if you want, train with me! Starting this at 56 years old might not be the most sensible thing I have ever done, but let's face it, when has a Wurdeman ever been sensible!! I hope you'll all follow along with my adventure and maybe even consider sharing!
Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
