I joined the Susan G. Komen 3-Day in 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona, as a walker. It was one of the most amazing and difficult weekends. But I was hooked. I met some amazing women and men who were dedicated to ending this disease. I met women with Breast Cancer who were walking 60 miles and even one who was still going through Chemotherapy. I knew I had to keep helping.
The next year I volunteered on Crew. I found my place. I love being in the background making things happen and making the event a success for those who are walking. Continuing to raise money, give my time, help others. It has been one of the most gratifying things I've done with my life.
Through the years, and as Arizona was taken off the locations of events, I used the opportunity to travel to other locations to volunteer at the 3-Day. Why not combine my two favorite things. The 3-Day and traveling. I volunteered in San Diego, Seattle, Michigan, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Boston and my new home event, Dallas.
This year in Dallas will be my 28th event. 2 of those as walkers (I walked in Boston in 2024 to help gain a different perspective and motivation) and the rest as crew.
Please help me celebrate this year by donating to the cause. My goal is $500 but I would love to blow that up.
Thank you to those who give year after year. Thank you to the folks at Circle K for always going above and beyond with my salsa sales every year. Let's keep fighting!
