Every step I take in this 13th Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk carries the weight of my heart—and the legacy of my family’s battle with breast cancer. Since 2009, I’ve joined a remarkable team of women and men united by our passion to end breast cancer once and for all. After a three-year pause due to COVID-19, our shoes are laced up again, our spirits ignited by hope, determination, and the unwavering belief that science holds the key to treatments and cures.
My mom, a survivor who’s faced breast cancer not once but twice, and my dad, also a resilient survivor, have both shown me the power of hope and perseverance. Their journeys remind me daily that early detection, breakthrough research, and compassionate support are essential. Today, I walk not just for them but for every person affected by this disease—and for a future where breast cancer is a chapter in history, not a current battle.
Susan G. Komen has been a beacon of light in our fight against breast cancer, and here are just a few of the transformative benefits their work has achieved:
• Groundbreaking Research: Their funding has powered innovative studies and clinical trials, leading to life-saving treatments and improved early detection methods.
• Patient Support and Advocacy: Through robust support programs and educational initiatives, they empower patients and survivors, ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone.
• Community Mobilization: Their events and campaigns have united millions of people, creating a global network dedicated to awareness, prevention, and support.
• Policy and Awareness Leadership: By advocating for policies that enhance access to care and bolster research funding, they’ve influenced national and international standards in breast cancer care.
Every donation, shared story, and step taken in solidarity fuels the engine of research and hope. I invite you to join me—let’s turn our passion into progress, our walk into a movement. With your support, we can fund the research that saves lives and brings us closer to a future free from breast cancer.
