Please support me as I commit to an incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days.
I first took up the cause in 2008 when my friend and co-worker Michelle was diagnosed with Stage 3 IDC at the age of 28. The last conversation I had with her, she asked me to promise to keep walking and fundraising until "there was no longer a reason to". Until we had a cure. We lost her at the age of 32 almost a month to the day after I made her that promise.
Since then I have walked, I have crewed, and I have fundraised for a cause that has become my passion.
I have lost friends, I've watched my grandmother battle and now at 97 is a survivor.
I had my son join join the fight. He was 2 when I first walked. Since then he has been on Youth Corps 4 times and last year completed his first walk in Boston.
He has seen a teacher battle, watched as a teammate on his youth football team lose his mother to breast cancer. We will not give up!
I am committed to continuing to fight.
