This is why
Many many years ago a friend and coworker informed me they were diagnosed with breast cancer and could I be her emergency contact. I did not know what to say. Of course I accepted. I told her I would be there throughout her fight. Our work team took turns making sure she had company for her medical visits and groceries. We made sure she knew she was not alone. Sitting with her throughout her chemo treatments, I realized cancer did not impact just older people. I know God gives you what he believes you can handle. So what was God's plan for me? I kept asking why, why so many and why no cure. I wanted to be more involved in finding a cure. Well that is how the journey for me started with the 3day Komen foundation. Throughout this journey I have met the most remarkable people and lifetime friends. I have made some great memories with many survivors and go through the pain of losing some that lost the battle. I watched my mom fight her battle with lung cancer and lose, to be an angel that watches over all of us. I know that not one person can say they have not been impacted by cancer. I have been blessed to still be healthy and able to continue this journey. Which I guess is part of God's plan. So I will continue to support this journey until we find a cure. Please help support me as I commit to this incredible challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It is hard and gets harder as I get older, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo and radiation. Not as hard as surgeries and your body trying to recover. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
