Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page - again!
Unfortunately, another year has passed and still no cure for cancer so the walking and fundraising must continue. The pink show must go on!
I am headed to Dallas, TX in 2025. This will be my 20th time participating in the 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk!!! Since my first walk in 2000, I have walked over 1,140 miles on the 3 Day Breast Cancer events. Thanks to you - my dear friends and family - I have fundraised over $66,000. I am very proud of this accomplishment, but my work is not done, not yet.
I have another HUGE reason to walk again this year - my BFF Nani Ribeiro, who is receiving treatment and fighting stage IV (Metastatic) breast cancer right now. Our moms met at the hospital where they were to give birth to us. I am older by 2 days and Nani has been in my life for 5 decades. We live thousands of miles apart but have remained close – my sister from another mister!
I am in awe of how strong, positive and matter of fact Nani has remained through the ups and downs of treatment. Cancer has changed her life, has made it far more difficult, yet she remains unphased, only focused on how to move ahead and not dwell on the hand she was dealt. I am so inspired by her wisdom and her strength.
I will be walking in loving memory of my dear friend Doris Zimmermann who passed away in July of 2017 after fighting breast cancer for the second time. Also, for my friend Shirley Choy-Marshall who was a loving mother, wife, daughter and a friend to all. I will also, once again, be walking in loving memory of Kay Bleh, my sweet mother-in-law who left us 16 years ago, yet it still seems just like yesterday. Friends, Tina Butaitis, Cindy Lam and my favorite aunt Florinda Carmo. These were women taken from their families too soon. So, as I continue my crusade against Breast Cancer, I will be thinking of them. They will be with me in spirit every step of the way.
I will also honor my brave, bold and courageous friends and family members who fought and survived this awful disease: Alvarina Brasil, Marie Langley, Ann Splittgerber, Paula Martins, Mimi Steiner, Juanita Trujillo, Joan Kaltsas, Kami Tomberlain, Joyce Schmidt, Conceicao Magalhaes, Shari Loudin and Dawn Ramsey. Also, a shout out to Jen Hagen who had the courage to have preventative mastectomy before cancer ever had the chance to strike – you go girl!!!
Great medical advancements have been made but we are not there yet... so, I ask for your support again this year. I ask you to make a donation to my most precious cause. Together we can make a difference! Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure® is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Net proceeds from the 3 Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs.
THANK YOU for your continued support, it means so much to me. Your donation regardless of the amount WILL make a difference! Think Pink always!
