Hello, this is Carolina Williams. Thank you for visiting my 2024 Susan G. Komen 3-Day Personal Fundraising Page.
I was honored to be chosen to volunteer in the Youth Corps, which is a select group of people ages 10-16 that are enlisted to help the participants in the Susan G. Koman fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research.
The first task as a Youth Corps volunteer is to raise a minimum of $500; however, my goal is to raise $1,000 or more! Not only do Youth Corps volunteers commit to raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, we are also responsible for assisting walkers with water, gear, site clean-up, and especially encouragement over their 3 day, 60 mile walk.
The reason why I want to volunteer and raise money is because my grandmother, Michele Smith, and my great aunt, Lynette Fairlamb, are both breast cancer survivors. In support of breast cancer research, my grandmother has walked in these breast cancer walks for 16 years and taken countless steps to help reach the goal of a cure for breast cancer. Volunteering is just one small, but important step, that I want to take to help.
So, on November 15-17, 2024, I will be in San Diego for 3 days as part of the Youth Corps Volunteer Program. I will start my day at 5:00 am setting up the day’s activities and continue to work until sunset, cheering on the walkers while making sure they have everything they need to keep going. Each night we will camp in pink tents and get up bright and early the next morning to do it all again. I know it will be hard work...but it will also be fun!
I humbly ask you to support me in this important fundraising effort for a very worthy cause and a cause that is personal to my family. All the money I raise goes directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and supports its efforts in raising awareness and finding a cure for breast cancer.
Thank you for your support,
Carolina
