Shortly after my dad passed away in 1995, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. To hear the “c” word is scary all on its own. But to face the possibility of losing my mom so soon after losing my dad was terrifying. More recently, my wonderful sister-in-law and a cousin I adore were also diagnosed with breast cancer and have had to undergo treatment.
Thankfully, due to organizations like the Susan G. Komen Foundation, medical researchers are discovering ways to treat this horrible disease.
All three of these amazing women are still with us today. They are survivors who fought (or are fighting) for their lives! I'm walking in their honor with some great ladies on team “Just Keep Walking” in the 3 Day event this November.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser to support breast cancer research efforts.. All donations go to research and are tax deductible. I personally fund the cost of the trip and participation in the event.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. It’s not as hard as chemo. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever.
Thank you! Love, Erin
