It’s been ten years since I heard those dreaded words, “I’m very sorry to say, it *is* cancer. I was 34 weeks pregnant with a 2-year-old at home. May 2014-May 2015 was probably the hardest year of my life, and treatment left me with scars both physical and mental. It also helped make me the woman I am today-- stronger, wiser, and more compassionate.
In celebration of this 10-year milestone, I’ve committed to an exciting challenge. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Although I’m sure it will be hard, I know it won’t be nearly as hard as fighting breast cancer was.
I am so grateful to be healthy enough to undertake this challenge, and even more grateful for your support as we raise funds for breast cancer research and patient support. Let’s work together towards a future where no other 37-year-old pregnant moms of toddlers ever have to hear the words, “I’m so sorry to say, it *is* cancer.”
