As many of you know, I'm a 3-day, 60 mile walker for Susan G. Komen. Because the fight doesn't stop, I have pledged to walk and raise funds as long as my body will allow. While research will someday find a cure, today, I have the opportunity to spread hope. Dubbed "The Praying Walker", you can find me praying with strangers throughout the 60 mile journey.
I have officially raised over $37,000 lifetime dollars to date and prayed with countless hurting people.
Wow. I still can't believe I just typed that. I wouldn't be here without you!
My next big goal is to hit $50,000 raised. Thank you for allowing me this truly unforgettable experience. Hope is here.
I started walking for Komen in honor of my Aunt Peggy, who I lost to breast cancer on December 30, 2012. I continue walking for my youngest daughter who, simply because of the color of her skin, is 40% more likely to die of breast cancer than her white counterparts. She's also more likely to be diagnosed younger, at a later stage, and with a more aggressive type.
I come back year after year for the countless people I've met over the last decade who have received more time because of the work Komen is doing. There is still hope for groundbreaking research and access to community programs. Each year, I see people getting their lives back because of the groundbreaking research Komen is funding. I will walk as long as my legs are able because I know it's making a difference. If I can help someone not to say goodbye too soon, my steps are not wasted. Thank you for continuing to support me on this journey. I believe every single step makes a difference in the life of someone, and your prayer, encouragement, and giving help to do that.
Blessings to you,
Ashley Fuhr
