5 year ago, I lost one of my best friends to a brave fight against triple negative breast cancer. Kate was the best friend anyone could wish for--kind, caring, and so much fun. I am heartbroken that she is gone and I continue to be inspired by the way she lived her life, even in the most challenging of times.
A bit about Kate's story: Kate was diagnosed with stage 3 triple negative breast cancer in February 2017 at the age of 25. She went on to endure several rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and radiation. In April 2018, we learned that the cancer had spread and Kate was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. Kate sought every avenue of treatment, undergoing experimental chemotherapy through a Seattle Cancer Care Alliance trial and more radiation. Unfortunately, this horrific disease began to take over, and Kate passed away on April 8, 2019, just weeks shy of her 28th birthday.
Kate inspired us all with her grace, courage, and positivity in the face of all the hurdles her journey presented. Kate lived by the motto No Bad Days, choosing to focus on the good and not let cancer steal her joy.
Over the past several years, you've helped me raise more than $9,000 in the fight against breast cancer. I was fortunate to participate in the 2018 San Diego walk with Kate—a weekend of memories I'll cherish forever. Since then, Kenzie and I have walked together in New England (2019), San Diego (2021), and Chicago (2022). I'm looking forward to my 5th 3-Day in 2024 in San Diego and I so appreciate your support in honor of Kate's memory. Thank you!
