BREAST CANCER coming across the lips of a physician in your direction or a family member’s is a moment etched in every survivor’s memory. Let’s join together to erase that experience for the next generation. While this 3-Day 60-mile walk will be difficult, it will be nowhere near as difficult as enduring chemotherapy and radiation. It will be nowhere near as difficult as the remission bubble bursting with the results of the latest scan. It will be nowhere near as difficult as a mastectomy and reconstruction. And it will be nowhere near as difficult as saying goodbye.
It’s not easy to ask others to join a cause and donate precious funds, but the discomfort of fundraising pales in comparison to what my Mémère, my Aunt Helen, and scores of others all over the world have endured in the clutches of breast cancer. If you are reading this, it is unlikely you or a family member has not been touched by breast cancer. According to the most recent American Cancer Society report, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the US, and it is the second leading cause of death from cancer among women. While that is true, Susan G. Komen has funded over a billion dollars in research and over two billion in education, screening, and treatment. You can help be part of that mission today.
No donation is insignificant. Every dollar counts.
Join this cause with me for yourself, for your parents, for your grandparents, for your siblings, for your children, and for your children’s children. Let’s put an end to breast cancer forever.
