On September 12, 2023 I heard the four words that no woman ever wants to hear - "You have breast cancer". I'm a lucky one who caught the invasive ductal carcinoma early in my annual mammogram and with a couple of surgeries, 4 weeks of daily radiation and 5-10 years of meds, I feel very confident that breast cancer is a thing in my past! Because those four words are far too common, the mom of one of my son's besties from college is also on a treatment journey and asked if I wanted to challenge myself by joining her in doing the Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as treating breast cancer. It’s not as hard as getting bad news at your latest scan. It’s not as hard as saying goodbye. And that’s why I know I have to do this. That’s why I’m walking and why I’m raising money – to end breast cancer forever. Thanks for helping me reach my goal! Let's help rid the world of those four words!
