I have made a commitment. I will not give up until we put an end to breast cancer. In August I will once again be heading to Boston to walk in the Komen 3-Day for Breast Cancer and continue the fight for a cure. This will be my 13th walk and I can't wait to join the rest of my crazy team, Friends With Heart, as we fight together to put an end to this terrible disease. This dedicated group of men and women have become part of my family. We support each other across every step of this amazing journey. We are united in our commitment and together my pink family and I will continue to fight until we find a cure and make breast cancer a thing of the past.
Why do I walk? Because four generations of my family has battled this disease. Because my sister is BRCA positive and is living with Stage 4 breast cancer. Because at the age of 18, my niece found out she is also BRCA positive and has almost a 90% chance of developing breast cancer before she turns 50. She has some very tough decisions ahead that no one her age should have to face. This is why I keep walking. This is why I will not stop until we find a cure for this terrible disease. But I need your help!
Please consider making a donation and supporting me as I take an amazing journey in the fight to end breast cancer! The Susan G. Komen 3-Day® is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. Every step and every dollar makes a difference. We are raising awareness and the net proceeds help support research, scientific programs and community-based breast health and education programs for women and men facing this terrible disease. In 2016, Komen announced a Bold Goal—to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026. That is why I’m walking, and raising money—to make that goal a reality. I walk for my sister and my niece. I walk because every step makes a difference. I walk because I am committed to A World Without Breast Cancer!
