I am writing to you today with a very special request. I am asking you to join me in the fight against breast cancer by supporting my participation in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, a 60-mile walk over the course of three days that raises funds and awareness for this devastating disease.
You may wonder why I am taking on this incredible challenge. The answer is simple: because I care. I care about the millions of women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, who have endured the pain and suffering of treatments, who have lost their hair, their breasts, their dignity, and sometimes their lives. I care about their families and friends, who have stood by them, comforted them, and mourned them. I care about the future generations, who deserve to live in a world where breast cancer is no longer a threat.
I also care because I have a personal connection to this cause. My wife, Karen is a 38-year breast cancer survivor.
That is why I have committed to support the walks for the 60 miles in three days, from New England (Boston) as a crew member. It will not be easy, but I know it will be worth it. Every dollar I raise will bring us closer to the day when breast cancer is history.
But I cannot do this alone. I need your help. I need your support. I need your generosity. I need you to make a donation to my fundraising campaign and help me reach my goal of $500. No amount is too small or too large. Every dollar counts. Every dollar makes a difference. Every dollar saves lives.
To make a donation, please the DONATE button above and follow the instructions. You can also mail a check to Susan G. Komen 3-Day, P.O. Box 660843, Dallas, TX 75266-0843. Please make sure to write my name and participant ID number 1709289 on the check.
Your donation is tax-deductible and will support the vital work of Susan G. Komen, the largest nonprofit funder of breast cancer research in the world. Susan G. Komen has invested more than $2.9 billion in research, community health, advocacy, and global programs since 1982, and has helped reduce the death rate from breast cancer by 40% in the U.S. since 1989. But there is still much more to be done. Every 13 minutes, someone in the U.S. dies of breast cancer. That is unacceptable. That is why we walk. That is why we fight.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your generosity. Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can end breast cancer forever.
Sincerely,
Graham (AKA Mr. August 2010)
