What started as two random strangers in a freshman college classroom turned into a lifelong friendship. Marriages, children, celebrations, sadness, illness, and so much laughter. We may live miles apart, but can pick up a conversation and finish each other’s sentences. A lifelong friendship is something not to take for granted. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Mary Jill didn’t hesitate to be at my first surgery, when I got an infection 48 hours after the first surgery, she jumped on a plane to be at my second surgery one week later. She didn’t hesitate to leave her family, and bring the boys to visit me during a chemo treatment. Her response was “you would do it for me.” Cherish these friendships and all the memories.

The Komen 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. It will be hard, but it’s not as hard as breast cancer. We won’t stop until breast cancer does.
