I have committed to walking the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for a third year. Yes, that’s 60 miles in 3 days over the course of one weekend! The Fall of 2022 was my first year participating in this extraordinary event. Leading into it, with the countless hours of training, the early morning walks to beat the heat, and the incredibly sore feet, I thought this was going to be “a one and done” for me. However, it’s hard to say no when you are surrounded by such an amazing group of people who are all fundraising for the same cause.
As a three year breast cancer survivor myself, it is my mission to make sure other women get early detection and intervention like I had, the same level of care, the same treatment options, and surgeons as knowledgeable and skilled as mine were. Since 2003, the Komen Foundation has invested more than $1.1 billion in breast cancer research, therapies, and cures and over $2.5 billion in patient support and advocacy services. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. Most of us have been impacted by breast cancer in some way; whether it be a family member, a friend, or even yourself that has received this awful diagnosis. Can you imagine a world without breast cancer? Every dollar raised helps get us closer to this reality....and that is why I walk! I need to raise a minimum of $2300 in order to participate in this event. You can help make a difference with your donation!
